Salary £30,000 to £45,000 commensurate with experience
We are working in partnership with a well-established, Lexcel accredited multi-office law firm, who are looking for an experienced Legal Compliance Manager to work collaboratively with managers at all levels across all areas of the organisation.
With new office openings and many positive changes taking place, this role offers a diverse range of responsibilities, and would be ideal for someone with a proactive and positive mindset who is eager to help foster and embed a strong risk-aware culture.
The role will involve:
- Establishing a standard approach for delivering operational services across a network of offices
- Ensuring full compliance to AML regulations at all offices
- Acting as the primary contact for professional indemnity insurers, handling claims, maintaining records, and conducting investigations.
- Providing updates and reports on compliance status to the senior management team
- Assisting in managing escalated complaints with the Solicitors Regulation Authority or Legal Ombudsman, serving as Liaison Officer during SRA inspections.
- Advising fee earners on professional conduct matters, including conflicts of interest and ethical considerations.
- Identifying areas of improvement, strengthening practices, and enhancing the firm’s risk profile
- Delivering training sessions on risk-related topics
- Conducting compliance audits for internal policies
- Maintaining the Confidential Register of Interests and coordinating the Lexcel accreditation process
- Monitoring adherence to the Solicitors Code of Conduct and supporting due diligence processes for mergers and acquisitions.
- Training staff on revised policies and providing information.
- Conducting file reviews.
- Assisting staff with client files and addressing any queries
- Supervising and training the Risk and Complaints Manager and Risk and Complaints Officer
Suitable candidates will have:
- 3+ years’ experience in a management compliance role in an SRA regulated law firm
- Experience of working for a Lexcel accredited law firm
- Proven track record in developing and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships
- Experience of current regulations and guidelines as set out by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, Information Commissioners Office and National Crime Agency
This is a full-time permanent job which will be fully office based. Working hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
