Paralegal – Children and Families (Public Family Law) – Graduate Vacancy

If you are a graduate who has studied family law as one of your electives, and has a keen interest in public family law, this could be the role you’ve been looking for!

Leamington Spa – c£22,000 per annum

We are working with a very well-established, multi-office, Lexcel accredited law firm who are seeking an ambitious graduate with a genuine interest in Children and Families Public Family Law to join their busy Care Department in Leamington Spa. 

This role has come about due to internal promotions and the expansion of their Care Department; testament to their ongoing commitment to training and development of all staff.

The role will involve:

  • Assisting fee earners with the preparation of care work
  • Liaising with clients in person, via telephone and email
  • Maintaining files and ensuring efficient case management of care matters
  • Drafting legal documents including correspondence, briefs, court documentation, full attendance notes and statements of evidence
  • Attending to clients at court with counsel
  • Making appointments for clients

Suitable candidates will have:

  • Experience of working on placement as part of your degree, or in a permanent job within public family law
  • Experience of dealing with Legal Aid applications and use of the Legal Aid online portal preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • The ability to deal with sensitive situations and difficult clients in an understanding and professional manner
  • Knowledge of public funding procedures 

This is a full time permanent job which is office-based, working 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (35 hours per week)
