Senior Management Opportunity – Head of Family Law Department
Location: Leamington Spa or Banbury (with flexible hybrid working)
Salary: Up to £70,000 – negotiable, in line with experience

We’re partnering with a highly respected, Lexcel-accredited, Legal 500-recognised law firm to recruit a Head of Department to lead their growing and successful Private Family Law team.

- Leading and managing the Family Law Department, providing strong leadership to the team
- Managing Departmental budgets and finances
- Ensuring the development of all staff
- Managing own caseload of financial remedy and private law children matters
- Interviewing and advising clients in all matters relating to family law and identifying solutions
- Drafting correspondence, briefs, court documentation, full attendance notes and statements of evidence
- Continually reviewing cases in the light of new information
- Liaising with experts, enquiry agents, costs draftspersons, counsel and colleagues
- Undertaking advocacy work
- Assisting the management team in tendering for LAA contracts and ensuring compliance in contract requirements
- Ensuring members of the department have clear training and development plans
- Conducting and coordinating regular performance and file reviews for all team members
Suitable candidates will have:
- Around 5 years’ + PQE as a Family Private Solicitor with experience of leading on complex matters
- Excellent people skills and organisational skills
- Experience of case management systems and time recording
- Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to deal sensitively with clients
- Accredited panel member for Legal Aid Supervision (Family Law, Family Law Advanced, Children’s Panel or Resolution Specialist)
- Mediator qualification (desirable, but not essential)
This is a full-time permanent job, working 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Hybrid working will be considered one to two days per week following an initial training/bedding-in period.
